The green building market experienced healthy growth of nearly 13 percent in 2014 due to government initiatives to promote sustainable building practices and protect the environment, according to the Global Construction Waste Management Market 2015-2019 report. The healthcare segment of the market increasingly embraces green building methods, the report found. On a global scale, Europe and the Americas are early adopters of green building, although Singapore, India, Australia, France, and Malaysia are beginning to institute government policies to support green building. Green building and investment in green building is increasing in the commercial, office, and residential building segments due to the widespread awareness of the benefits of green building, and the tax benefits offered by federal and local governments are expected to foster continued growth. However, the report notes the availability of green building materials, which are often produced from recycled industrial or construction waste, could pose a threat to the growth of the market. Green building includes implementing waste management from the design phase, and the report notes increased construction activities worldwide, including construction and repairs of infrastructure, may create a stream of materials that can resolve supply shortages of materials that can be reused in green building.
