NLBMDA will host a webinar on the Department of Labor's new Overtime Rule on June 29 at 2:00 PM, EDT. On May 18, 2016, the U.S. Department of Labor issued a new Overtime Rule affecting the regulations on overtime pay: Defining and Delimiting the Exemptions for Executive, Administrative, Professional, Outside Sales and Computer Employees. The rule increased the standard White Collar and Highly Compensated Employee salary thresholds. It also allows up to ten percent of the new White Collar salary threshold to be made up by nondiscretionary incentive pay. The rule with its new salary thresholds goes into effect on December 1, 2016 and the thresholds will automatically increase once every three years, with the first increase set for January 2020. The NLBMDA webinar will review what has changed, what has not changed, and give a special look at the key tests that must be met in order for an employee to be classified as exempt from overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act. This will include a review of the duties tests applicable to Executive, Administrative and Professional employees and the exemptions that remain in place for Outside Sales and Motor Carrier workers. NLBMDA members are welcome to submit their questions at the time of registration to ensure the webinar addresses all scenarios and concerns applicable to the LBM sector. Members may register online.
