A comprehensive
review of expenses AND a salary survey in one tool! This program allows you to quickly and
easily evaluate your expenses and your salary structure in comparison to national and regional dealers. How does your company compare? Are your margins
higher or lower than others in the nation, southeast or perhaps Florida? For a similar position are you
paying more or less than other companies?
With enough participation, the
Building Material Operations Comparison Survey (BMOCS) will allow you to compare your company’s operating ratios and
salary structure with like companies from across the nation, southeast and Florida.
The Construction Suppliers Association (CSA), FBMA’s Georgia and Alabama counterpart, developed the BMOCS.
Designed by a taskforce of retail lumber dealers, the survey is easy to use and the reports will be pertinent to and
useful in the management of your business. The survey report consists of more than 90 charts and graphs,
many with industry benchmarks and tags demonstrating the way you want your data to be trending. Secure
and confidential, your data is stored from year to year allowing you to compare your operations over time. In
addition, the survey incorporates a salary survey within the program, allowing you to compare your salary structure to that
of other companies.
The surveys are web based, with the data stored on a ISO9001 compliant
server in a secure environment that conforms to high SSL standards. Managed by the CSA, working in conjunction
with FBMA, your data is secure and confidential. When entering information the system auto-computes many
numbers and highlights potential errors to prevent typos from ruining your analysis. And, to insure “apples
to apples” comparisons, definitions are provided for categories.
Your results will be available immediately after the April 30, 2010 deadline.
Then you will be able to print the charts comparing your company to national and regional averages; and eventually,
with enough participation to make the results meaningful, with other Florida companies.
For FBMA members, the cost to participate in the combined operating ratio and salary surveys is only $200. After
completing and returning the BMOCS form below, you will be sent a username and password, along with a web address.
After going to the web address, entering your username and password, and viewing a tutorial you will be ready to enter
data. You can delegate the data entry and determine how much access they will have to someone in your company
by creating a username and password for them.
The system is easy to use, powerful and you
will find the results to be meaningful and helpful in the management of your company.
